I think if they decriminalized cannabis then the price would very quickly drop to almost nothing.

The only problem with the price reducing to almost nothing is that no one could then make any money selling it.

In my opinion the only beneficiaries of the efforts to criminalize cannabis are the criminals themselves.

This makes me very suspicious of the governments who insist on criminalizing it.

Do they have a self serving financial interest?

How about kick-backs from the pharmaceutical industry? Doctors get wined and dined by these legal drug dealers, don't they. They get free samples to dole out to their patients and points for prescribing the drugs. Why not suspect that certain government officials or agents of Health Canada or DEA in USA also get rewarded for eliminating the competition.

Hi Rez,
I guess there is no money in it for the drug companies to do clinical trials?

Sorry about bringing in the misuse as a recreational drug but "the weed from hell" bit threw me.

Hope you continue to make progress.

With claims one needs specific information, even so, many such claims are seen as anecdotal. I am skeptical about the prostate cancer claim but it is not unknown for me to be wrong! :).

What stage was his tumour and its Gleason score?
The swine with an advanced tumour is you can stop it feeding one way and it switches to another mode. That's why they don't talk about cures but 5 and 10 year survival.

Medical misdiagnosis is not uncommon in the profession.

Lol. This thread is fairly old so I don't remember all that it covered. The reason for the "weed from hell" reference is probably given in the original post.

Clinical trials? Oodles of clinical trials have been done. Here's a good sample that covers studies and surveys from 1970-2011.

Cliniacal Studies and Case Reports

Here's the problem with cannabis falling into the hands of pharmaceutical firms. They would separate the components, regulate dosage, etc. none of which really works. I would advise looking into the history of the "herb". The answers are there and many helpful links are provided in this thread.

As for my friend Pete. I had known for some years about his suffering. His doctor was the same one my husband went to. He's probably the top urologist in the province. He had told Pete that he needed some radical surgery but Pete wasn't ready to lose his manhood. He didn't want to accept chemical castration either. I don't know his gleason score because I didn't need that information. His specialist was shocked to say the least that such a serious stage of prostate cancer completely disappeared. And, btw, Pete had his cancer confirmed in the beginning with a core biopsy.

You are right to be skeptical. Not a bad place to start. Personally, I like to start in neutral. ;)

cheers,
rez

RE: Cannabis - gift from God or weed from hell?

Hi Rez,
Thanks for the info. If your friend was operable he no doubt had a stage 1 or 2 tumour. Mine, and I guess your husband's, was not operable. I had bilateral stage 3's, stage 3's are not operable...being on hormone therapy for three years after diagnosis and radiotherapy seven years ago reminds one of what Mr Spock said, "It's life Jim, but not as we know it! :) But that was years ago and my psa is less than 0.5% of what it was eight years ago. I'm sorry it was too late for your hubby, up to now I have been extremely fortunate.
One cannot rely just on one therapy with cancer it is a multifaceted fight that goes on for life.
God is good.
best regards
Derek

RE: Cannabis - gift from God or weed from hell?

Thanks for all that information and your story Rez. It just reinforced my belief that it isn't harmful if used for medical reasons., and by those who know how to dispense it. It must be there for a reason, mustn't it? Why shouldn't it be used if it can alleviate dreadful pain?:dontknow: Anyway, thanks for your input.
Agape,
Grateful :giverose:

Hi Rez,
This reference may be of interest and its links, Prof Roger Pertwee is the leading expert on the use of medical cannabis in the UK.
